At Winter Moon Gifts, we hand-pour every candle with purpose — clean ingredients, warm intentions, and plenty of heart. To help your candle live its best life (and your space stay cozy, not smoky), follow these simple care tips:

Trim the Wick

Before lighting, always trim the wick to about ¼ inch. This helps prevent soot, keeps the flame steady, and extends the life of your candle. A little trim goes a long way.

Let It Pool

The first burn is the most important. Let the wax melt evenly across the entire surface — edge to edge. This prevents tunneling and sets the stage for an even burn all the way down. For our 9oz jars, this takes around 2.5 to 3 hours.

Don't Overdo It

Burning your candle for more than 4 hours at a time? That’s a no. It can cause the wick to mushroom, the flame to get too tall, and the jar to overheat. Keep it cozy, not chaotic.

Avoid Drafts

Candles like stillness. Set yours up away from fans, vents, or open windows. It helps maintain an even burn and keeps that clean flame dancing just right.

Keep It Safe

Always burn within sight, and never leave a lit candle unattended. Keep away from kids, pets, and anything flammable. Safety isn’t optional — it’s part of the ritual.

Know When to Say Goodbye

When there’s about ½ inch of wax left, it’s time to call it. Burning it past that point risks overheating the jar. Safety first, always.

Store with Care

Natural soy wax can be a little picky — it prefers cool, dry places out of direct sunlight. Treat it more like chocolate than a cactus.

Extra Tips for a Clean Burn:

• Use a snuffer to extinguish your candle gently — no smoke, no wax splatter.

• Reuse the jar. Just a little warm water and dish soap, and it’s ready for a second act as a planter, pen holder, or whatever your creative heart dreams up.
